TRUE STYLE CAN'T BE COPIED! I have a lot of readers ask me where I pull my inspiration from and my answer is simple.. fashion is my creative outlet. I visit very few fashion blogs because almost every fashion blogger looks the same and it kind of pisses me off to see thousands of people in awe over something I have seen thousands of people do. Being fashionable is not copying a look you've seen on every fashion website, but taking bits and pieces and turning that look into your own. How do you do that? I can't answer that because that has to be something you figure out on your own. I can not stress enough how important it is for people to be individuals and stop giving a crap about what other people think. A lot of blogs today are geared towards marketing...just trying to sell you the hottest trend. Like almost everything in our society, the fashion industry tries to create standards and norms through beauty and fashion trends. You might wonder why I never post designers, look books, and collages about what I need to buy and it because I think it takes away from my message... you need to be your own inspiration!


It took me some time to create my own style and stop trying to look like everyone else. I was not always this "fashionable"... it wasn't until I quit basketball in college and took a 2 year hiatus to do some self reflecting. I became a completely different person and I wanted my look to reflect that. At the same time all of this was happening, I started working at BCBG Max Azria at the Stanford Mall and that was such a great opportunity. I met people who worked for tumblr, polyvore, and facebook and it was so much fun having clients and styling them for certain occasions. Well I had to quit that job because I had to move back home due to the budget cuts at SJSU. So I started applying for numerous jobs and one of those was J. Crew. They just happened to be looking for personal shoppers and I had some experience with it, so they took a chance and hired me on. It was more than amazing to come into to work everyday and call up clients, pick out outfits, and get to know people on a personal level. This is where my love of styling and fashion came from and is the ultimate reason why I continue to post on this blog everyday. I want to style people for a living. It truly brings joy to me and there is so much more involved than just throwing clothes on people. I go through detailed questions and try to get a sense of who somebody really is and who they want to be... then I can achieve that perfect look for them. However, it is still very challenging to get others to push their boundaries..I have had people cry in front of me because they do not feel comfortable in breaking through their comfort zone... guess what.. LIVE IS TOO SHORT FOR THAT!


As women we have so many daily obstacles to over come and the biggest ones lie within. We really need to get in tune with our feelings and actually understand what they mean to us. Do not listen to society and your peers about what is right and wrong.. if you are a good person and are centered, you do not need someone else to define that for you. Understand that trends created by the mainstream media are there to push one agenda in order to make us feel bad about ourselves, so they can give us the "ultimate cure." I can see how this can be appealing because its hard to be YOU when everything and everyone is telling you otherwise. I can tell you first hand that if you give off loving energy it will come right back to you. Open your self up and people will be attracted to you as an individual. When you accept yourself for who you are at this point in time, you will start to notice a difference in your walk, the way you talk, and the way you look.
